When Vic Braunson meets Matt diLorenzo at the local gym, he falls head over heels for this “Grecian God”, as Vic nicknames him. But Matt is involved with one of Vic’s co-workers and Vic would never think of stealing him away. He also feels that Matt wouldn’t give him a second glance. Vic has some self esteem issues because he is hitting forty and thinks his piercings and tattoos would be unappealing to someone like Matt.

Vic becomes depressed as the days turns into weeks without seeing or talking to his crush. Vic continues to go through the motions of everyday life driving his bus and working out at the gym, until one day Matt comes on his bus. Matt flirts with Vic and soon they go out to dinner. Vic finds out Matt is single again and is very much interested in Vic, but wants to take things slowly. For the next few months they become friends and on New Year’s Eve, they both decide to take their relationship to the next level. They have a very passionate night of love making in ways both could never imagine and especially like to cuddle!

The next morning Vic feels like a new man. He suddenly has so much energy and still can’t believe Matt wants to be with him. But at work, things become stranger than usual. Suddenly he can hear a person’s thoughts and has so much strength that he can lift over 1000 lbs. Vic is scared by his new found talents and when he tells his lover, he finds out Matt also has a secret. Whomever Matt has sex with will be able to do the incredible things like Vic has done. Their relationship becomes complicated in ways both could never imagine. Matt is afraid that Vic will only want to be with him because he is responsible for giving him these new super powers. Vic also has no clue how to live this way and to keep Matt in his life.

J.M. Snyder has written an inventive and moving tale about two men trying to adjust to each other. I was pleasantly surprised by how the story unfolded. Matt and Vic didn’t only want a nice physical relationship, but rather one of true love and unbelievable trust. I was also blown away by the paranormal aspect hidden in between the pages. Vic is a character who captured my attention from the beginning and I wanted total happiness for him that had seemed to elude him right till the very end. THE POWERS OF LOVE is a super sexy read that takes the fantasy of how incredible sex can make anyone feel like Superman.
