Alyssa Cooke and her sisters are descendants of Lycaon, carriers who can become werewolves with the bite of their mate. As such they’re valuable women in the werewolf community. Her sister Lexi found her mate, and Alyssa thought for a while that she had found hers, or rather he found her. But something just doesn’t feel right about the match with Marc Zelotes. He’s protective, handsome, and ready to settle down, what’s not to like? But then Alyssa meets Jace Letion, and suddenly she feels all of the passion that’s missing in her relationship with Marc. Which man is she meant to be with? Will Alyssa make the right choice?

Alyssa is an art student and always enjoyed her classes, at least until her relationship with her ex, Phillip (her professor’s assistant), blew up in her face. Some men just don’t take rejection well. Although she’s happy that her sister has found her mate, it only makes her own problems more obvious. Alyssa is determined not to reveal to anyone the emotional strain she’s under. Jace is instantly drawn to Alyssa, and he’s the only one who sees through the façade that she puts on to hide the deep sadness underneath. Marc is a great guy and he’s genuinely bewildered and hurt by Alyssa’s hesitancy to finalize the mate bond with him. Alyssa can’t help feeling guilty for Marc’s pain and yet she just can’t resist dreaming of Jace. She’d be a lucky woman to end up with either man, but only one of them is her true mate. Can Alyssa overcome her secret heartache and embrace the love she yearns for?

Alyssa’s sister, Lexi, is an interesting character. A few words of advice: never tick off a pregnant female werewolf, way too many hormones running rampant. :-) Lexi’s mate, Conner, is utterly in love with her (so sweet) and he’s protective of Alyssa as well. Dr. David Daniels is Alyssa’s art professor and somewhat more; you’ll have to read the story to find out what I mean. One of Alyssa’s sisters, Katie, makes a brief appearance and a mystery reveals information that leads me to believe that she’ll be the heroine of the next story in the Heirs of Lycaon series.
