For
Callie Obermeyer, the news reports about the 'vampire' serial killer
are interesting as topical dinner conversation, but they don't
really impact her everyday life...until it lands at her doorstep.
Callie is shaken when her next door neighbor becomes one of his
victims, but even more frightened when she learns she has become a
target.
Gunther Andarton has spent years dispatching demons back to hell and
saving their victims if he can. When he hears the banshee cry for
the latest victim, he already knows he's too late to save her, but
he knows Callie's proximity to the crime site makes her an instant
target. Unfortunately, one meeting is all it takes for Gunther to
know that Callie is his mate. How can he protect her when all he
can think about are the emotions she inspires in him?
A
short, but not so entertaining tale, IN A STRANGER’S ARMS suffers
from insignificant prose and an unlikable heroine. Callie Obermeyer
comes across as a whining idiot. The situation is highlighted by a
scene where Callie returns home from a night out to find her extra
key missing and her door unlocked, and she refuses assistance in
order to highlight her independence. Seeing as how a woman was just
killed next door the day before, this was just plain stupid and her
choices from that point forward don’t get any better. On top of
that, there are several conversations that are random and lead
nowhere, adding nothing to the story. The romance doesn’t build,
instead it’s an instant attraction that’s so strong that it must be
love.
Sorry,
but readers should take a pass on IN A STRANGER’S ARMS.
