California – the Present
Using a witch’s
spell, Tara calls Lone Wolf to her in his time of need. Even in her
dreams, she can sense that he is in pain and dying. When Lone Wolf
suddenly appears wearing only a loin cloth and moccasins, she is not
prepared for his raw masculinity. With his powerful body on
display, Tara soon realizes that he has a terrible gun shot wound
and calls on every spell she knows to help keep him alive.
Lone Wolf
doesn’t recognize his surroundings when he regains consciousness.
His last memory is of protecting his clan from gold-seekers and
being shot in the back. The unknown red-haired white woman before
him believes he can’t speak English and he decides not to tell her
differently. He quickly becomes quite bewildered and extremely
aroused by her words and gestures. Before long, nervousness has Tara
talking a mile a minute about everything from his sexy body to his
huge erection. Since he can’t understand her, there is no need to
hold her tongue about what she would like to do to him, right?
As the story
continues, readers realize that something is odd about this entire
situation. Lone Wolf behaves a little too excited about the small
things in Tara’s home. We also find that Tara is harboring a secret
of her own that could possibly destroy them.
THE LAST WARRIOR
is an interesting story filled with steamy sex. Author L.A. Day does
such a wonderful job describing the characters that you have a clear
mental picture of them. The attraction between Lone Wolf and Tara is
instant, and it doesn’t take them long at all to act on their
feelings, especially with Tara unknowingly seducing him with her
sexy word play.
Unfortunately,
THE LAST WARRIOR unfolds in an awkward manner. L.A. Day doesn’t
immediately tell readers that Lone Wolf is from the past, but there
are inferences all over the place. When we are finally given the
whole story, there is minimal impact because readers have already
figured it out by then. I would have also liked to see Tara’s power
evolve and explained a little more thoroughly. Similarly, I expected
to see a little more emotion from Lone Wolf when he finds out that
he is in a different time. Instead, he is just a little too
accepting.
If you can
accept these quirks, you may enjoy THE LAST WARRIOR. It’s
definitely an erotic story that has more than enough good elements
dispersed to keep your attention throughout.
