Cheri Amaranth has often wondered about the grandfather she has never met. When her mother dies, she makes up her mind to go to the planet Selenia where her father's father lives, although her mother did not wish for her to go. Even her co-pilot, Rex, has some reservations about her being on Selenia especially after receiving a static-filled message from her grandfather when they are in orbit around the planet. He said something about sending a guide to lead her to his house and to watch out for the wolf.

Upon landing, Cheri goes outside to look around. When she tries to return to the Scarlet's Legacy, her way is blocked by a very large wolf. The wolf does not harm Cheri and is injured while protecting her from an unseen assailant. After the wolf runs off into the forest, a man named Hunter, whom Cheri assumes is her guide, arrives. She gets her bag of goodies from the ship to take to Grampa and ignores Hunter when he tells her not to wear her red jacket.

But Hunter is not her guide and Cheri is rescued by Cain Wolver. What Cheri and Cain share could set the woods aflame. Cheri still needs answers about her past because her life is in danger until she gets them. Can Cain keep her safe? And what about Granmpa?

LITTLE RED RIDES THE WOLF is a delightful paranormal version of the old fairy-tale. Lara Santiago, with panache and just a little soupçon of tongue-in-cheek, gives us snappy dialogue and good descriptions. Cain and Cheri are a lovely couple made for each other and he is more than happy to help her come to terms with who she is. Cheri's true identity is a nice surprise as are the contents of her goodie bag . I recommend it.
