Connersville and
Dallas, Texas - Present Day
It only took one
look for eighteen year old Holdin Powell to know that Jill Taylor
was the other half of his soul. In no time, the dominant young man
had staked his claim, and he and Jill began to explore their
relationship. When Jill disappeared without a trace, it destroyed
Holdin, and he spent the next fifteen years working to stay in the
public eye so that Jill would always know where he is.
Now that he’s
retiring from pro-football, Holdin decides it’s time to finally let
Jill go. It’s been fifteen years since she left him, and she’s
never once tried to contact him. He’s revisiting their old haunts
to say goodbye, including the soda fountain at the department store
where they worked, when Holdin believes he’s seeing a ghost. Jill
is sitting at “their” table.
On the run from
some bad guys, Jill and her father disappeared from Connersville
only to crash several hours later. When Jill woke up, her father
was dead, she had no memory of her past, and she was pregnant. She
built a life for herself and her son, Drifter, but two weeks ago
another accident caused her memory to return. Jill needs another
surgery, and has no idea what her memories will be afterwards, so
she is determined to explain to Holdin what happened and introduce
him to Drifter. Her only wish is that Holdin accept Drifter; she
never would have imagined that Holdin would still want anything to
do with her. Yet he’s just as possessive as he was when they were
eighteen, and he has every intention of proving to Jill that she’s
still his girl.
INTO HIS KEEPING
is an intense, sometimes heart-breaking, sometimes uplifting story.
The connection between Jill and Holdin is strong, even after fifteen
years. For Holdin, those fifteen years have been spent with the
ghost of the girl he loves, and basically trying to get her
attention. Jill however, feels as if she left Holdin two weeks ago,
not fifteen years. Her feelings for him are just as strong as they
were when she left him, and because of the loss of memory, she
hasn’t had a chance to “get over” him. Both the flashbacks of their
former relationship and the interaction between them now are erotic
and consuming.
Fifteen years
has changed both Jill and Holdin, and they will need to learn about
each other all over again, which is only one obstacle to a happy
future for the couple. Drifter, at fourteen, still feels the
responsibility of the man of the house, and isn’t sure about Holdin
at all. There is also Jill’s surgery and medical problems, not to
mention the past she was running from before she met Holdin in the
first place. An absorbing tale, INTO HIS KEEPING is a story I
highly recommend.
