Sunninghill,
England – Present Day
Kay Macara is a
best-selling erotic romance writer who goes by the name of Jaid
Rumor. She attended university in England years ago and has
maintained a friendship with Sean and Sarah, who reside in
Sunninghill. On a trip to England for a book fair event, she decides
to stay with her friends. Alas, her trip starts off wrong, first
with her luggage being stolen, then waking up the next morning to
find several inches of snow on the ground and snowbound alone in her
friends’ cottage. Kay decides to wait it out, that is, until someone
enters the house. To her surprise, it’s none other than a man she
knew from her university days…and who she never forgot, Bryce
McKendrick.
Bryce admits he was a cad when he and Kay were at university
together, but he’s matured and wishes he could take back the pain he
caused her. Unaware that Kay is visiting Sean, he’s stops by their
house, despite the snowstorm, and encounters the last person he
expects to see. The attraction between Kay and Bryce hasn’t waned
over the years and now he too is stuck at the cottage. What better
way to get reacquainted? Certainly not much to do when you’re
snowbound, except maybe a little sex, right? Kay still thinks Bryce
is a womanizer, but she agrees to a fling, and nothing more. After
all, a leopard can’t change its spots, can it?
Kay has let the past affect how she views relationships with men.
First there was Bryce and his womanizing ways; then she had a failed
marriage. To say the least, she’s not enamored of getting involved
with any man right now. She poured her heart and soul into writing
and it has paid off. When she first arrives in Sunninghill, she
makes it clear to Sean that she does not want to see Bryce, but when
fate has other ideas, what can she say? Especially when there are
several inches of snow outside! Their time together is not only
erotically spent, but they learn a thing or two about each other…and
themselves.
Bryce always felt that things were left hanging with Kay. Yes, he
did sleep with those other women, but was it because he was afraid
of what he felt for her? Now that he’s older, he would do anything
to make it up to her. Will he get his chance?
Christine London brings her vast knowledge of England and its people
to make SUNNINGHILL SNOW a definitely English flavored tale. As a US
reader, I had to get used to how Bryce spoke and the terms used.
Hey, I do understand shagging and biscuits, but along the way, I
learned a little more British-speak, while enjoying a thoroughly
engaging romantic story. Readers will watch Kay and Bryce fall in
love and finally admit they can’t live without the other. How will
it unfold? You’ll have to read SUNNINGHILL SNOW to find out.
