Dr. Marc Fonteneax is called in on a consultation for a young boy named Tayler Reeves. The moment Marc enters the room he senses his mate. Excitement races through his body. No Anton needs Tayler so he can continue to be pack leader without challenges to his authority. Tayler's illness is a boon for Anton and he plans to milk it for all it's worth. But Anton didn't count on his son's anger, Bernadette's wrath, or the new man in her life and his family, the entire Montgomery clan. Things are about to get mighty interesting and a little dangerous.

If you've been keeping up with The Montgomery Family series, then you'll remember Marc Fonteneax. Marc made his appearance in the first book, ACTING LIKE FAMILY, when he took care of Riker Montgomery's mate, Bethany, and her pups. Marc thought Bethany was his mate but when he meets Bernadette, he realizes he was wrong. So wrong. Marc is an honorable man who protects his family and those he loves. From the first moment he lays eyes on Tayler and Bernadette, Marc begins to protect them and love them. The way he talks to Tayler, comforting him and explaining to him all about his illness and what to expect, is so heartwrenching that I cried. Bernadette is a strong woman who's done everything on her own, never leaning on anybody. When she became pregnant and decided to keep the baby, her parents wanted nothing to do with her or Tayler. Bernadette doesn't know what to do for Tayler or how to help him. All she knows is that she won't let him die. Sparks fly fast and furious between Bernadette and Marc. The first time they make love it's spontaneous and combustible. In that moment, Marc marks her as his mate. Now all he has to do is explain it to Bernadette and hope she doesn't toss him out on his cute little behind. Secondary characters include the Montgomery family, Marc's brother, T Paul and his family, and Rafe, a new addition to the family with an interesting story behind his acceptance into the group.

Once again J.J. Massa has captivated me with her alpha males, heroines who can hold their own, a family that anybody would love to be a member of, and enough passion to light up the night skies with her latest book, FAMILY DOCTOR. It's totally scrumptious. I can't wait for the next book. (Hint! Hint!) <g>
