In Chicago to meet with her editor, Sophia, and sign a contract for her next book, Bethany Black is hit with the worst case of jet lag. She barely strips out of her clothes and into the bed before sleep overtakes her. The next thing Bethany knows, she's nice and toasty and in the arms of a very naked man. Recognizing him as Riker Montgomery, the famous actor, Bethany's body heats and when Riker kisses her, she's lost in sensation. Riker Montgomery is bone-tired when he enters his hotel suite but not so exhausted that he doesn't smell a woman in his room. The scent seems familiar but he doesn't know why. Riker gazes at the lovely young woman sleeping in his bed, probably freezing if her shivering is indication. Too tired to wake her and make her leave, Riker climbs into bed with her and wraps himself around her, instantly falling asleep. He wakes up later to find her rubbing her body sensually against him and smiles. He learns her name is Bet just before his lips cover hers in an all consuming kiss. From that moment on Riker's animal instincts take over and he has to have her...body and soul. The instant he kisses her, Riker knows that she's the one...his mate. He marks her as his and makes love to her with all the passion and hunger flowing through his body. However, in the light of day he wakes to find Bet gone and his heart is broken.

After Bethany leaves Riker she realizes she's in love with him and tries to contact him. When she discovers she's pregnant with twin boys a couple of months later, she tries to get in touch with Riker once more. Instead of getting Riker, she gets his lawyer, August Livingston, who informs Bethany that Riker would like for her to take care of her little problem and leave him alone. Bethany's heart breaks, her love for Riker still strong but unsure. Is what August says true or does he have ulterior motives? Danger is in the air, my friends, so beware!

ACTING LIKE FAMILY introduces readers to the Montgomery family and their quirks. And by quirks, I mean they are lupine...werewolves. Alpha of the pack, Riker is the epitome of a leader and so damn scrumptious that I found myself actually jealous of Bethany. That girl got the sexiest man around and boy does she treat him right. The emotional upheaval Riker suffers when he wakes to find Bethany gone is felt in every word, every thought. Bethany is a strong, self-sufficient woman who falls fast and hard for Riker but lets a dash of self-doubt creep in which causes both of them a lot of heartache before they are reunited. The sex between these two is indescribable. Hot, passionate, overwhelming...okay, I guess I can describe it a little. <g> The cast of secondary characters are made up mostly of Montgomery family members and a few others who add another layer to Riker and Bethany's tale. Personally, this reviewer hopes to see a couple of these dashing werewolf males in stories of their own fairly soon. Hey! A girl can dream can't she?
