Chicago, Illinois - Present day

Cayte Taylor is turning thirty, and like many single women her age, she’s also coming to terms with where she’s at in life. An artist, Cayte earns a living running a gallery instead of marketing her own work, owns a cat of all things, and spends her time pining for her boss, Tristan Moore. Not that owning a cat is bad, but, well, the truth is summed up best by picking a color to represent her life, beige. Plain old, dull, inoffensive, beige. Supposedly Cayte is a hereditary witch who will come into her powers tonight. So, after a couple of margaritas (okay, five) Cayte decides to take a chance and perform a spell from the grimoire that was a birthday gift from her gran. Imagine her surprise when it works!

Beau is a demon of desire. Summoned by the witch, Cayte, he’s surprised that she’s willing to offer herself up to him, but hey, she chose to perform the spell knowing she’s paying for it with sex. Who is he to object if this delicious woman with her ample charms wants to have a little fun with a demon? He’ll show her what sex should be like, and if she still wants Tristan afterwards, he’ll teach her what she needs to know to get him. But Beau quickly discovers an unfamiliar sense of possessiveness towards Cayte; will he be able to give her up when the time comes?

Cayte is one stubborn woman. I’ve got to admit that if a demon like Beau showed up and wanted to get close to me, I’d pick him any time over a man who failed to notice me even once despite working closely together. Perhaps I should point out that Beau doesn’t work for the devil. When Lucifer fell, some demons went with him, but most, including Beau, didn’t. Cayte is determined to resist Beau, oh, she lets him show her how passionate things can be, but she still holds on to the idea of Tristan. Beau knows the penalty for falling in love with a human is steep, but it’s not a problem, after all, he’s not falling in love. Did I mention that Beau is just as stubborn as Cayte? This pair is destined to face a lot of challenges on their way to finding love, or not finding it, whatever the case may be. Never boring, BEDROOMS AND BROOMSTICKS is a heck of a ride.

Cayte’s grandma is a riot, determined to protect Cayte, she thinks nothing of facing Beau down to “banish” him. Somehow I think Cayte probably wouldn’t appreciate such help. Cayte’s sister, Carrie, has a great sense of humor, or maybe she’s just mean, I guess it depends on how you feel about the gifts she buys Cayte for her birthday; a pink dildo and a book about naughty sex. After all, Cayte is single, is that a hint Carrie thinks she’s going to stay that way, or an invitation to spread her wings? Tristan is handsome, there’s no disputing that, but as they say, handsome is as handsome does, and operating under that rule, I’d have to say he’s not all that good looking in the end. Then again, I might be prejudiced, since I liked Beau so much. ;-)

Cynthia Rayne obviously knows how to mix up a brew containing the perfect mix of sex, love, emotion and magic. Don’t miss BEDROOMS AND BROOMSTICKS.
