Ny-Alesund, Norway and the wilds of the Arctic - Present day
Corporal Sigrid Myrhe works undercover for the European Union
Forces. The scientist’s latest assignment is to work alongside Bjorn
Lunde’s team, deep in the Arctic, helping them to research a
pollution problem there that may be related to several recent
murders. Sigrid knows she’s up for the job, but convincing Bjorn
that she’s more than just a pretty face, that she can in fact take
care of herself, as well as help his team find the answers they’re
seeking, may take some doing.
Bjorn
Lunde respects his boss, Vik, however the man can’t have been
thinking when he assigned a female scientist with centerfold looks
to spend time alone with his team of hardened male soldiers. Bjorn
gives Sigrid one last chance to turn down the assignment, but when
she doesn’t take it, he finds himself both annoyed and relieved. Now
they just have to find and defeat the bad guys, and survive the
Arctic. Oh, and Bjorn and his team have to hide from Sigrid what
makes them perfect for working in the Arctic, the fact that they’re
all polar bear shape-shifters.
As if
solving the mysterious goings on in the Arctic aren’t enough,
there’s one more complication thrown into the mix. It seems Bjorn’s
bear has just found his mate in Sigrid.
Oh my,
the heat that’s generated in BJORN’S MATE could definitely
contribute to global warming. Sigrid is the youngest in a family of
scientists and she’s determined to prove her worth. True, her job is
an undercover one, so her family will probably never get to find out
that she’s more than just their “baby”, but she’ll know. Meeting
Bjorn does make her job harder, her hormones are suddenly spiraling
out of control, however she’ll just have to overcome them and resist
the impossibly tough, undeniably male animal. Bjorn can’t believe
his bear’s bad timing, finding a mate now, in the midst of a deadly
assignment is so not a good idea. But he just can’t resist
Sigrid and she does seem to know what she’s doing. Can he
hide his true nature from Sigrid as they grow closer, and more
importantly, will they make it out of the Arctic alive?
The
most important secondary characters in this story are, of course,
Bjorn’s team. I assure you that finding a group of men with more sex
appeal would be very difficult indeed. Bjorn’s second,
Lieutenant Kjell Tveit, is positively yummy, and he’s not above
noticing Sigrid’s appeal. Then we have brothers Hans and Mark
Svetter, and the final member of the team, Trent Majors. Each of
them has their own definite appeal.
If
scorching hot sex, virile shape-shifters, some very unusual enemies,
and a generous dose of action sound good, then BJORN’S MATE should
be on your shopping list. And luckily for all of the readers who are
sure to enjoy this tale, it’s the first in a new series, Arctic
Hungers. Hmm… I wonder who will find their mate next, Hans,
Mark, Trent, or maybe it’ll be Kjell? No matter, whoever it is, I
can’t wait. Until then, I can re-read BJORN’S MATE. :-)
