Earth and aboard the Dark Queen - Present Day

Ten years ago, a virus struck the home planet of the Ta’e’shian’s, killing many and leaving the female population barren. In search of a compatible race, they finally found them on a backward planet called Earth. The Dark Queen (a Ta’e’shian ship) has been dispatched to pluck women from the planet in order to provide mates for the crewmembers and passengers aboard.

A bonded pair, Kyrin and Daeshen Auralel are excited to claim their new female mate, human Theadora Conner. Taking her from the surface, ordering the modifications necessary to her new life; computer implant, genetic conversion, etc... - all standard procedure. They also have her belongings brought aboard, anything necessary to ensure the happiness of their new wife. They’ve thought of everything, well, except asking Thea if she’s interested in marrying them.

Thea Conner is scared when she awakens to find herself naked and bound in a room with two unfamiliar men. The sedative they administer, as well as the incredibly hard to resist (okay, irresistible) sexual pleasures they pour out onto her, help to calm Thea. As time passes, she has to admit that Kyrin and Daeshen do seem determined to pamper her and make her happy. But Lord and Lady above, what were the men thinking when they decided to pluck women from their lives with no thought as to whether or not they’d want to go? When Thea learns of the human women aboard who’ve been put in stasis because of an unknown sickness, she believes their symptoms sound like the aftereffects of rape. It seems at least one Ta’e’shian doesn’t approve of the new members of their people.

DAUGHTERS OF TERRA is an incredible read. Theolyn Boese obviously put a lot of thought into everything necessary to create a new world; religion, science, culture, all bases are covered. The characters are well drawn and distinctive (secondary characters as well as primary ones). Kyrin is the captain of the Dark Queen. Obviously a very Alpha male, it’s amusing to see how nervous one small human woman in a temper can make him. Daeshen is a member of the science team aboard, a computer geek if you will (with extraordinary abs). The gentler member of the pair, watching him deal with Thea’s things (she’s a bit of a pat rack) is interesting indeed. Thea lived a quiet life on Earth, a weaver and a waitress; she nonetheless settles into her new life and in her own special way, completes Kyrin and Daeshen’s family. The interactions of all three slide from humor to annoyance to passion with ease, just like in real life. Together this trio burns up the sheets, and they don’t do half bad in the water either. ;-)

There are so many secondary characters that I’d like to tell you about, but I simply don’t have room to discuss them all, so, here’s just a few of my favorites. Chief Medic Corvin is put in charge of caring for Thea’s needs, a nice man who learns to appreciate the delights of pizza; Barik is his assistant. Soren is an asana (a priest), and with his flame red hair and irrepressible good humor, he’s an enjoyable character who becomes Thea’s friend. Sya’tia is a warrior woman that Thea becomes good friends with. Kati is a personable young Ta’e’shian that is full of questions for Thea, “What’s it like having hair? Who’s your mate? Are you pregnant?” It looks like this speedy talker and the genial Soren may have a future together. The ten Gods and Goddesses of the Ta’e’shian’s, as well as Thea’s own Lord and Lady, add their own special twists to the story. I am especially interested in finding out more about the very last action that Thea’s Lord and Lady took, and I can’t wait to find out what happens in the next book.

There are so many good things to say about THE DAUGHTERS OF TERRA, but I’ll settle for telling you--don’t miss this great paranormal read!
