Not counting the humans in the area, three wolf packs live on the mountain: The American werewolves, the wolves of Malta, and the lunewulfs.  The American and the Malta werewolves have forged a tentative alliance, but not one that doesn't have its holes and disagreements.  Still, outcasts from both groups are the lunewulfs who remain suspicious of the rumored magical talents of the Malta wolves.  Heidi Lutgard believes her people are being stupid for not making overtures to either of the other wolf packs, especially since humans hate them all.  When her car breaks down in one of the human towns, Heidi finds herself reaching out to some Malta wolves for help, and getting much more than she bargained for.

Nicolo Spalta, brother to the Alpha of the Malta pack, is angry over the unnecessary death of one of the pack.  Someone has strung barbed wire along a fence with the direct intention of killing one of the pack in werewolf form.  It's a cowardly way to kill someone and, although neither Nicolo nor his brother Dimitri believe a werewolf would stoop to such an act, they can't count out one of the other packs making a play for the Malta land.  So, with tensions already high, Nicolo is unprepared for the instant attraction he feels for the little lunewulf who has come into their territory seeking assistance.  Used to the curvaceous Malta females, he is surprised at the chemistry between himself and the petite blond, especially since their packs will never accept a relationship between them. 

But some passions will not be contained...

Bigotry is the dark current that runs through Lori O'Clare's Werewolves of Malta series and is highlighted very clearly in FORBIDDEN ATTRACTION.  None of the burgeoning relationships are ever easy.  Instead, pack politics and domestic disagreements play a huge role in the developing romances.  Nicolo and Heidi's story is no different as they must battle the issue of crossing 'racial' boundaries even as the tensions between the packs rise with the ever growing number of deaths by barbed wire. 

Equally interesting is the blazing sexual tension between Nicolo and Heidi.  Heidi never knew what she was looking for until she met Nicolo, and he wasn't even looking.  But when a good thing lands in your lap, he knows to hold on with both paws and show some fangs.

FORBIDDEN ATTRACTION is a darkly erotic addition to a series that itself is ratcheting up the suspense as readers wait to see if the Malta werewolves will eventually find a home and heal the wounds of the past.  Check it out and enjoy the ride.
