- Present Day
After an abusive
marriage and a messy divorce, Phaedra "Eddie" Ross decided it was
high time to start over again. Now the owner of a popular pub in the
countryside, the only problems Eddie has to deal with are the
occasional bar fights and late-night drinkers. She's also managed to
attract the attention of two best friends, Ian Tully and Lance
Dines. Their flirting is harmless and appreciated, but Eddie can't
figure out which one she likes better. Unbeknownst to Eddie, she's
also attracted a much more sinister admirer, who can shift into a
wolf and likes to leave body parts as his gift to her. Could one of
the men Eddie has come to trust so much be her sadistic stalker? Or
is there another man out there who wants her so badly, he's willing
to kill innocent people to prove his worth?
Sometimes
jealousy can be a potent emotion, though not necessarily a bad one.
But when it's the reason Eddie chooses to have sex with Lance,
rather than Ian, I had a hard time liking her after that. GAROU MOON
had the potential to be a very unique story, with a wolf who is in
complete control of his shifting powers, rather than having to rely
on the phases of the moon to change. Yet a confusing plot line and
Eddie's inconstancy as a character got in the way of M.E. Ellis'
story being enjoyable. The book also has a rather abrupt ending,
which may have readers wondering if another tale is soon to follow.
