Suburb of Chicago, IL - Present Day

Kris Anderson is her name and, while one's fortieth birthday should be a memorable one, Kris' is more memorable than most.  See, she died.  Well, not really, but she should have.  On her way to her parents house for the requisite family celebration, Kris is run over by a pickup truck and dragged several feet.  The fact that the truck took off after the incident is interesting, but more remarkable is the fact that Kris came out of the encounter with a few cuts and bruises, but no serious damage.  Then there is the stranger, the gorgeous man Kris had spotted in front of the pharmacy right before she got hit by the truck.  He doesn't seem perturbed by the situation or her lack of injury.  From that moment forward, Kris' life takes a serious sharp turn from the familiar and 'normal'.

Magic users?  Werewolves? Gods?  Kris would be ready to declare her new companion, werewolf Dade McClur, a psycho except how else to explain the fact that she's never been sick or hurt a day in her life, and yes, there have been other times when she should have died or at least been seriously injured.  Instead, Kris has been introduced to a new life, and people who are normally considered to be fairy tale or horror story fodder.  Then again, that is the least of her problems.  Uppermost in Kris' mind is who is trying to kill her, why, and exactly how does she fit into this otherworldly situation.

HER WEREWOLF is an erotic paranormal adventure that entertains even as it rehashes old ground in the genre.  The tale feels somewhat like three distinct plots combined into one.  Although it doesn't detract from the overall story, I did find myself checking every couple of chapters or so how many pages were left as I kept expecting the tale to end after what felt like a satisfying conclusion.  Instead, readers are treated to Kris' introduction to the paranormal and a mystery to solve; the meeting of the parents; and a second mystery to solve, sort of like a three-part series condensed into one.

If I have one bone to pick it's the current trend of authors writing strong women protagonists who participate in serious relationships with multiple male partners at the same time.  In Kris' circumstance, this plot point seems more salacious than substantive and took a bit away from the single relationship that eventually blossoms.  However, the well-written and witty characters will keep readers interested and engaged.

Who knew your forties could be so energetic!  Follow Kris as she tries to tame HER WEREWOLF.
