Present Day

Dr. Henri Edouard has created a serum to make super soldiers. The formula known as Hyde 2 is untested, possibly dangerous, and still the government is sending men over to be used as guinea pigs. Henri cannot allow this to happen, so instead he injects himself with the serum. The results are intriguing and dangerous. Henri is more than a mere man now and has undeveloped, untapped powers that are ravaging his body. Now Henri is on the run, the government is searching for him, and so is Sterling. Just who will find him first?

Dr. Allison Cunningham has been a big fan of Dr. Edouard's work and when she's called in by Ryan Murdock, the founder of Sterling, to find Henri, she's curious. Why would Ryan send a neurologist to find Henri? She soon learns why when he shows her photos of the good doctor, only he looks more like a beast than the man she admired. Allison traipses off into the woods searching for Henri and she finds him. Something about him arouses things in her, sexual things, that she should be ashamed of, but isn't. Can she help Henri before the serum either kills him or turns him into a beast forever?

HYDE is a fascinating read and sort of reminds me of Jekyll and Hyde. The only difference is that when Henri is the beast, he only kills those who have killed or hurt another human being. For some reason this sets Henri off big time. When Allison is around, though, she seems to have a sort of calming effect on Henri. And when the two have sex, well...it's hot, animalistic, and has a big time soothing effect on Henri. Both of them wonder why, but don't have time to dwell on it because the government is one step away from capturing them both. There aren't really any secondary characters other than Ryan who plays a minor role. The story is mainly about Henri and Allison and their developing relationship.

Sherri L. King has once again penned an intriguing and scintillating story with HYDE, adding another couple of characters to the already growing family of Sterling Files. I so enjoy immersing myself in this group of people.
