Ireland - Present Day
Sent to Ireland to research ancient buildings of Blackmuir, Maddy
Sinclair finds herself caught up in a love triangle involving a sexy
taxi driver, Shamus, and her handsome neighbor, Brian. Maddy hasn't
had the best of luck with men, and she's hopeful that her business
trip will turn into something much more fun. But her trip may be cut
short since every time she brings up the castle, people tend to keep
their mouths shut. Sure, she's heard the rumors of ghosts and such
haunting the parapets, but that's just an old wives' tale, isn't it?
Turns out Maddy may be in for much more than she bargained for when
the "rumored" ghost makes advances towards Maddy herself.
When I first read the blurb for IRISH EYES, I was expecting a
sweeping romance set in the lush fields of Ireland. But that's not
what Rusty Wicks gave me. There are quite a few things that made
this book less than memorable for me, one of them being how short
the chapters were. Nearly each chapter starts off with a letter that
Maddy has written to her sister, Lily. Those letters offer more of
the story than the rest of the chapters, which are mainly about
Maddy lusting after Shamus and Brian, and them doing the same for
her. All the mystery surrounding Blackmuir got lost in the sexual
tension between the three of them, and a ghostly knight named Ian.
Trust me, I enjoy sensual romps just as much as the next person, but
what could have been a great story got put on the backburner for a
whole bunch of bedroom shenanigans.
