Everyone calls
him the "Iceman." Special Investigations Section Officer Caroline
Palmer would like to call him hers. But that's not gonna happen
anytime soon. It's pretty obvious that Detective Michael "Mick"
McGraw doesn't consider Caroline his type. She all but threw
herself at him over a year ago and he didn't even flinch. So why is
he in SIS looking for her instead of in Homicide where he belongs?
Caroline soon learns that Mick is the lead detective on the task
force trying to capture the Teddie Killer. So far he or she has
eluded them, leaving nothing behind at the crime scenes to give them
a clue as to the killer's identity. One common thread is that all
the married couples have experimented in the Dom/submissive
lifestyle and have frequented the club, Brimstone. Of course,
Caroline is still confused as to why Mick has hand picked her for
this case? The man doesn't even like her.
Homicide
Detective Mick McGraw has honed his reputation for being
cold-hearted and unshakable on the job. He doesn't mix business with
pleasure; a fact that's indisputable. The Teddie Killer
case has got Mick tied up in knots for several reasons. Some
personal, others professional. He knows what he's doing when he
chooses Caroline Palmer to be his pleasure slave (undercover that
is) and the consequences that could come of their relationship. Oh
yeah, their's will definitely be a sexual one because Mick has been
wanting Caroline since that day a year ago when she approached him
in the cafeteria and propositioned him. Mick turned her down flat
and with good reason. He's not the kind of man to hang forever on,
what with his past getting in the way and all. Too bad that's not
going to stop him from enjoying the hell out of dominating the
lovely Caroline and proving to her that she enjoys pushing the
sexual edge as much as he does. Will their act be enough to flush
out the killer?
Is it hot in
here or what? Suspenseful, enthralling, spicy, and engaging are just
some of the descriptive words I can come up with to describe Nikita
Black's SLAVE TO LOVE. From the very first moment Mick is
introduced, the heat is on. Mick has a strong presence that is hard
to ignore whenever he enters a room. Whether it’s in the squad room
or the bedroom, Mick is all male. And
damn,
he is fine. Caroline wants to get out of SIS and into Homicide so
when the opportunity presents itself she takes it. Now that's not to
say that she has doesn't have some reservations about it, because she does. The
number one being the Iceman himself. The chemistry between Mick and
Caroline is volatile and arousing. Their sexual activities are
definitely not vanilla sex and are hot enough to singe the
fingertips. Secondary characters include some of Mick and Caroline's
fellow officers; Bobby Staunton, Mick's partner, LAPD officer Jeff
Cody, a buddy of Mick's, FBI profiler, Tim Woodruff, and Julio,
Caroline's partner in SIS, all together they make a rather interesting menagerie of
characters who accentuate the story very nicely. Ahh...we mustn't
forget our killer. You are in for quite a surprise when this
person's identity is revealed. I know what you're thinking! Oh my
gosh! Is it? Or is it? Oh, I know...it's so and so. Well, I'm not
going to tell you. You'll just have to read the book to find out all
the answers to your questions.
Grab some
asbestos gloves, turn on the fan, and get ready for the most
stimulating ride of your life when you open up SLAVE TO LOVE. Just
make sure when you sit down to read it that you don't have anything
else to do because once you start...you can't stop. Ms. Black's
in-depth characterization, the suspense-filled plot, the twists and
turns, and the torrid sex, adds up to La Grande Mort in this
reviewer's book.
