San Francisco, California - Present day

Commander Grant Cooper is a Royal Navy flight exchange officer and a stickler for following the rules. When Commander Cooper is called out on a stormy night to save a Coast Guardsman caught in a storm he is furious. His fury morphs to concern after he realizes the guardsman is his former lover, Julie.

Julie can't believe her luck. Of all the officers in the Navy to come to her rescue, she gets to deal with Grant, a man who even folds his underwear. A man determined to control his lover. A man who sends hot flashes up her thighs by simply looking at her.

As the couple attempts to reconcile, their dangerous jobs might end their possible romance before it even gets off the ground.

AGAINST THE CURRENT is an interesting romance that focuses on the 'give and take' required in a relationship. It introduces the reader to two people intent on running their own lives, but open to accepting the other with a little bit of help. Julie's past weighs on her like heavy baggage, and when that baggage is mixed with Grant's need to control, fireworks are sure to go off.

The settings and terminology used in AGAINST THE CURRENT seem realistic, but the prose used to turn its budding romance into an erotic tale was a big turn off. It was flowery and like a bucket of cold water in its ability to stop the ratcheting heat.
