When
Remington “Remy” Boudreaux found out Cory, the woman he’d always
loved, had married their mutual friend Anton, his heart nearly
broke. Becoming Anton’s business partner and being in the couple’s
lives on a regular basis may seem crazy to some, but at least he
could still see Cory and be her friend. After Anton’s death in a
boating accident, Remy begins to think that maybe he and Cory could
end up together after all, but then a conversation years in the
making takes place, and Remy learns what a broken heart really feels
like.
Cory
has always loved Remy. She’d only married Anton because she was
pregnant with Remy’s baby and Anton assured her that Remy no longer
wanted her. It turned out Anton didn’t really want her either, he
just wanted her because she had been Remy’s. A little bossiness here
and there quickly turned into outright physical abuse and Anton
eventually caused Cory to lose her baby, and all hope of having
another. Finding out now that Remy still loves her, Cory shares with
him the truth about the past. It’s a horrible thing watching the man
you love suffer as he thinks about the pain you’ve endured and
blames himself for not preventing it, or at least stopping it.
Cory
and Remy are truly in love though, and it seems as if this time
around their relationship is going to last. However, that’s before
Anton’s ghost arrives to shake up their world. If he didn’t die in
that accident, where has he been, and why come back now? It’s time
for Remy to call in his friends and protect the woman he loves more
than life. There’s no way Anton, or whoever it is impersonating him,
is going to hurt Cory again.
Each
of the books in the Men in Love series are inextricably
entwined. Each story reveals more facets about all of the former
SEALs and the people they love most. Remy’s nickname is the “crazy
Cajun” and to hear him talk, that’s just what you’d think he is,
however, his down home speech is just an act he puts on because
people expect him to talk like that, and hey, the tourists who
frequent the bar he and Cory own eat it up. Underneath the swamp rat
exterior is a gentleman who joined the Navy to serve his country and
was raised by a judge. Cory loves to dress in skimpy clothes, and
that could lead people to believe she’s loose, but in reality, her
heart and soul is encased in ice, at least until she and Remy get
closer. What ice could survive the temperatures they generate?
People sometimes think that abused women can’t be beautiful and come
from wealthy backgrounds. Some say maybe the women did something to
deserve their man’s ill temper. Let me assure you, when you read
about the things Anton did to Cory, and the strength she showed
(still shows) in the face of it all, you’ll be impressed with Cory
and hope that she and Remy find the happily-ever-after they deserve.
Jake,
Cree and Jenny, the trio united in BRANDED BY GOLD (February 2007)
are integral to this story. Also important are Ben and Kate from
BEN’S WILDFLOWER (May 2007). Good friends Nicco and his business
partner Mac, as well as a mysterious employee of theirs, Amir, will
also lend helping hands to Remy and Cory during the course of the
book. And how could I forget Gabe, Rex and Boone, the trio whose
story was told in OPEN TO POSSIBILITIES (October 2007). They too
have roles to play in Remy and Cory’s love story.
With
danger threatening in the shadows, and plenty of sexual heat right
out in the open, COMPLETING THE CIRCLE is sure to keep your
attention. If you’re a fan of the series, or even if you just meet
them for the first time in this book, you probably can’t wait to
find out if Nicco and Mac will ever admit they’re in love. Well,
don’t worry, their story, GOING AGAINST ORDERS is up next. In the
meantime, why not discover for yourself just who is stalking Cory?
