New
York City, New York and Sarasota, Florida –the Present
After a
bad BDSM experience, Sienna leaves New York for sunny Sarasota ready
to start a new life. She leaves behind the career she has
established to work as a bartender at a tiki bar where she meets a
few people who are different from her normal crowd. Dominic is one
of her regular customers who has women turning their heads whenever
he walks into a room. Sienna knows that his dark hair, lean body
and perfect face is way above average, but there is just something
about Dominic that turns her off. It could be his spoiled ways or
the fact that he expects ladies to drool over him and cater to his
every whim. But surprisingly, every brush off Sienna gives Dominic
seems to make him more interested.
Sienna
also meets Cassie at the tiki bar. Cassie is a beautiful
kindergarten teacher who is supplementing her income by working at
the bar. The two ladies hit it off perfectly and quickly become
friends. Before GOTCHA! ends, Cassie and Sienna take their
friendship to the next level. While Dominic, on the other hand, is
in for the surprise of his life.
GOTCHA!
opens with a love scene between Sienna and her lover, Peter, in New
York. Ignoring her misgivings about Peter’s infidelity, Sienna
welcomes him to her bed. She even goes so far as trusting him to do
something that she has never tried before. When Peter betrays her
trust, Sienna vows never to allow herself to be burned again. This
incident is the driving force behind Sienna’s behavior throughout
the rest of GOTCHA!
Although classified as an erotic tale, GOTCHA! lacks eroticism.
There are only a couple of mediocre bedroom scenes which were not
descriptive or sexy enough to be arousing. I also found GOTCHA! to
be somewhat juvenile in its ‘does he or doesn’t he like me’ tone.
Although the story comes around full circle, I had a difficult time
understanding the logic behind Sienna’s actions. This omission
makes her and the other characters appear immature and
uninteresting.
