For eight years,
Skylar Daveigh denied her love for two of her best friends, but
thanks to a bottle of tequila and the game I Never, she finally
admitted to Gideon Foley and Tripp Kowlaski that she wanted them.
Surprisingly, Gideon admitted the same thing, and the trio had the
most amazing night of their lives. But, in the morning, Tripp had
regrets. A hockey star who just signed a mega-bucks deal, if word
got out that Tripp was bi, he might lose everything. Being a little
frightened by his new feelings for Gideon gave Tripp the courage he
needed to break off everything, including their friendship.
Now, several
months later, all three attend the birthday party of another friend,
Shane. Shane’s birthday wish is for all seven friends to be happy
again, because the friendship between this gang, which started ten
years earlier in college, is strained. Tripp is thrilled with
Shane’s pushing, because after seeing Gideon and Skylar together, he
wants to be a part of that, no matter the cost to his career. But
can he convince the two people he loves that he won’t hurt them
again?
Thanks to some
naughty games, friendships are put to the test, and in I NEVER,
readers get to see whether or not the friendship – and the love –
between Skylar, Tripp and Gideon survives. While the story begins
the night of Shane’s party,we get to see what happened the first
time the trio was together through a flashback. Gideon had always
kept the fact that he is bi-sexual from his friends, but on the
night Skylar decides to admit her feelings, Gideon decides to do the
same. The night is everything they could have hoped for, but ends
with Gideon and Skylar hurt, and Tripp full of regret. Now, with
Shane’s well-meaning interference, Tripp has a chance to make amends
for the way he ended things before.
While I NEVER is
the sequel to SEVEN MINUTES IN HEAVEN, the stories take place
simultaneously as, I imagine, the final story in the trilogy will.
So, though they are connected, they don’t necessarily have to be
read in order. An enjoyable tale, I NEVER should not be missed.
