Erotic Contemporary Romance

South Texas - Present Day

Handyman and aspiring writer, Devon McCloud is struggling with his latest scene when a knock on the door draws his attention. On the other side stands a beautiful woman who is scared to death, if her hastiness is any indication. She needs a room and she needs it now. Devon tries to turn her away but something about her gets to him. It could be the big beautiful eyes, or that gorgeous body, or it could be the fact that Devon hasn't gotten laid in a while. He shows Jamie to her room and leaves her there before he does something stupid like grab her and kiss her.

Hiding out from her insane ex-boyfriend, Jamie Cartwright changes her name, alters her appearance -- colored contacts and a different hair color -- hoping he won't find her. Relieved when she gets an apartment, Jamie can't help but notice how handsome Devon is. However, she's had enough of men right now so she lets those thoughts drift away. They don't stay there for long, though, as the more time she spends with Devon, the more she likes him, and vice versa. Can they build something with her crazy ex hanging over her head?

Amidst Devon and Jamie's story, MAKE ME SCREAM, there is side story. A woman who once lived there is missing. No one has seen or heard from her in weeks. Throughout the course of the story you get a little more light shed on the case, and learn some interesting facts about the other tenants; Todd and Rick, two strippers; Francyne, the owner of the apartment complex and her dog, Petunia; her nephew Grant, and we meet the ex-boyfriend Fred. He's quite a character let me tell you. Devon is a struggling writer who can cook up a storm. He isn't really very handy but Francyne likes him. Jamie is a sweetheart who just wants to live life without a black cloud hovering over her head. Namely Fred. There are so many intriguing people, plot twists and witty moments, that I found myself at times chuckling and thinking, "Oh good grief!" <g>

Humor, mystery, handsome men and charming women are all inside the pages of P.J. Mellor's MAKE ME SCREAM.
