Cielo, Texas – Present Day

If a person is looking to lay low under the radar, then Cielo is the place to be. No one asks questions and everyone, for the most part, keeps to their own business. It is that atmosphere which brought Julie Burt, now Bonnie James, into town. She’s currently employed as a maintenance worker at an apartment complex. Her only entertainment in this small town is spying on her neighbors and getting off watching their sexual shenanigans. That is, until a stranger waltzes into town one day. The sparks fly between them, but is it too dangerous to have more than a one-night stand with him?

Wynn Collier is the black sheep of his family. When your family is into locating people who don’t want to be found, anyway you can, well, you can see Wynn’s family is a tad different. He’s assigned the task of locating Julie Burt and has come to Cielo to track down a lead. Meanwhile, a hot fling with an apartment maintenance worker, Bonnie, has Wynn thinking this isn’t such a bad town after all. Then Wynn begins to put it all together, and before you can say Cielo, he’s nailed Julie aka Bonnie’s true identity. But by this time, Wynn has, well, feelings for her. What shall he do? Save face with his family or help Julie/Bonnie continue to run?

NAILED is a complicated tale that pulls you into the lives of Bonnie/Julie, Wynn and all the occupants of the apartment complex. There is no purely perfect character, as each have their own personal flaws, but the chemistry between Wynn and Bonnie sizzles right off the pages and onto your fingertips like molten lava.

Julie ran away after her sister and brother-in-law died, fearing for her life from an unknown enemy. She’s not sure why they’re after her, but she knows they will do anything to prevent her from talking. She trusts no one and tries to stay safe. Figuring Wynn will only be a one-night stand, she allows herself to have sex with him, but when he decides to stay in town, she knows he’s trouble. Oh, boy, does she learn she’s right!

Wynn’s father will fry his ass if Wynn doesn’t come through in locating Julie. When Wynn realizes who Bonnie is, and that finding her will impress his father, he has to make a decision on whether to turn her in…or help her. Not a hard choice since he is attracted to her. Then Wynn’s brother John, not so sweet and not very lovable, arrives in town, and Wynn and Julie’s troubles are magnified. The race is on to figure out why there is a reward on Julie’s head, and what it is the bad guys are after. Oh, what a tangled web NAILED is…

Told alternately in the first person (Bonnie/Julie) and third person (Wynn), NAILED just nailed it for me with its intriguing plot. Readers will sympathize with the fears of Julie/Bonnie and feel the intense sexual attraction that burns between her and Wynn. As far as the storyline goes, there is more action out of bed than in, which doesn’t mean you won’t be scorching your fingers on a passage or two while reading this gripping tale.

You won’t want to miss this thoroughly enjoyable tale from Amie Stuart. Head on over to your nearest bookstore and grab a copy of NAILED.
