Plainfield, New Hampshire and Elsewhere in the United States – Present Day

Nikki Curtis loves her job as a hospital nurse and working alongside her best friend, Jenna. She has just been though a nasty divorce after coming home one night and finding her husband in bed with another woman and was able to get through the rough time with the help of Jenna and her husband, Darren.

Nikki has become a big fan of the NWL, a.k.a. the National Wrestling League, and especially superstar wrestler Eric Conrad. Jenna asks Nikki to come to her birthday party her sister-in-law is throwing. Nikki doesn't expect to meet any interesting men there, but then she meets Bob Tyler who is a friend of Jenna's brother and his wife and looks exactly like Eric Conrad. Bob and Nikki become close during the party, and Nikki even accepts a kiss. They make a date to have breakfast the next morning, and that is where Bob tells her the truth. He actually is Eric Conrad and uses an alias to keep the fans away. Instead of Nikki being hurt by his little fib, she is over the moon to meet her idol and comes to the conclusion he is a really nice guy. Eric also likes Nikki, and as he goes on the road to wrestle, they keep in contact by phone and e-mail.

When Eric comes back into town, he gives Nikki and Jenna tickets to his next match. As they are both treated like VIP's, another wrestler seems interested in Nikki. He is Kevin Locke and is known as the bad boy of the NWL. Kevin and Eric are rivals both on and off the stage, and Kevin would like nothing better than to steal the championship away from Eric. And now that Eric has Nikki, Kevin wants her also.

Eric and Nikki become a couple, and she even goes on the road with him as the newest addition to the NWL's medical team. Things couldn't be better, but Kevin is always lurking around trying to get Nikki alone and have his way with her. Things get to the breaking point between Kevin and Eric, and Eric has to decide if he will continue to simply ignore Kevin's threats and those against Nikki, or beat him at his own game, which is in the ring and for the world championship of wrestling.

Nikki sees Eric as a SUPERSTAR, and I am not just talking about in the ring. Eric is one of the sweetest heroes I have read about in a long time. He is funny, sexy, and has all the right moves, especially when it comes to Nikki. Nikki seems to be a bit innocent in her thinking, which I was ready to be bored with. But, Roxanne Springer proved me wrong. Nikki is a great balance to Eric. And how can I not go crazy about the super hot sex scenes between these two? Eric treats Nikki like gold and is not afraid to show his affections in public, and especially when they are alone.

Kevin Locke, on the other hand, is a one-dimensional villain who acts horrendously to Eric and Nikki for no reason. His actions are so nonredeemable, especially after he tries to rape Nikki on multiple occasions. I was hoping he would get his just desserts by the end.

Other than my personal issues with Kevin, there are other characters I did enjoy such as Jenna and her husband Darren who are great friends of Nikki's and are there to give her advice. Even the NWL owner, Larry Padino, is a colorful character, along with the other wrestlers who also befriend Nikki.

I did have a fun time reading SUPERSTAR and learning about wrestling. Eric and Nikki are two wonderful characters you can sympathize with and wish for the best. Roxanne Springer has written a cute, yet at the same time hot romance where the good people come out on top.
