A. - Present Day
Because
her aunt wishes to return permanently to the sea in her natural
form, mermaid Alissa Nye must go to the descendant of Rory Keith who
long ago saved the life of her ancestor. For saving the life of one
of his favorites, the Sea God gave a treasure to Rory Keith, and
named him and the youngest of each generation of his line as
Guardian of it. It can be borrowed back for certain rituals and
Alissa is sent to retrieve it from Dr. Ryen Keith, the present
Guardian.
Given
that mermaids are Sea Sirens, her mother admonishes Alissa to be
careful that she not unduly affect Ryen with the allure of her
charms. No one gave her instructions on how to deal with Ryen’s
cousin, Devlin.
Devlin
Keith walked away from a lucrative job as a pilot when he discovered
that his employer liked little boys. He has been drifting a while,
staying with his cousin. He had listened to the same stories told
by their grandmother as Ryen but never put any stock in the legends
until he meets Alissa and sees for himself the proof of all the
stories.
Devlin
and Alissa barely say hello before falling into bed with each
other.
Alissa’s father, Patrick, is human. Her mother, Maura, the current
princess and her brother, Colin, and sister, Cassidy, are merrow, a
term for merpeople. But life is never simple and the budding love
and happiness between Alissa and Devlin is threatened.
Sometimes modern retellings of old legends do not work. SEDUCING
THE SIREN does. M. A. Ellis takes two very appealing people, one of
whom just happens to be a mermaid, and lets them burst into flames.
Devlin is gorgeous, caring, and doesn’t need a siren’s song to make
him love Alissa. This story is sweet, sexy, bubbly, and hot…even
underwater. It is a lovely story, and one I recommend.
