Eurus Colony

Dr. Sara Fergus is happy that her best friend Haylie has found Kamran, and maybe a little envious too.  Sara would like to find someone to share such a special bond with, but until then, she’s content with her job and her fantasies.  Then, an unknown ship crash lands at the Eurus colony, and Sara, on hand to deal with the injured crew, meets Captain Davin Jagt.

A little miscalculation has Davin Jagt making an unexpected stop on the Eurus colony.  He’s attracted to the beautiful doctor, so when Administrator Kamran makes taking Sara out for the colony’s celebration a condition of gaining help, it’s no hardship.  It’s going to take a week or two to fix his ship, and Sara will be a nice diversion.

Their affair starts off hot and heavy, and proves to be as enjoyable as each had predicted.  But there is something going on in the planet’s mines, and soon Sara and Davin are drawn into the conflict.  This trouble will also bring to light a secret that Davin is keeping, and threatens their fledgling relationship.

Christine d’Abo has created an intriguing universe in THE BOND THAT HEALS US, and peopled it with a diverse and interesting group of characters.  Fans may recognize some of these characters from her previous release, THE BOND THAT TIES US and, while some of the story may be easier to understand if you’ve read the books in order, THE BOND THAT HEALS US stands well enough on its own.

The story focuses mainly on the relationship between Sara and Davin, and on the personal issues that they each face.  Davin is running from his past and the man that he was born to be, but in order to help Sara and the Eurus colony he will have to confront that past and hope that Sara will be able to handle it.  The sex scenes between them are hot, but there is also a romance to balance out the lust, not to mention an interesting mystery to solve.  There are several secondary characters, some of whom have already had their story (Haylie and Karman were the couple featured in the previous book), and then those like Sean, a troubled man struggling with guilt, and Taber, a security officer and friend of Sara’s, who will hopefully have stories of their own in the future.

A riveting tale, be sure to look for THE BOND THAT HEALS US.
