Trey has successfully denied that he’s gay by having relationships with many women, and even though they were all wrong, the last one was the worst. His ex-girlfriend, Patricia Veron, wasn’t just the wrong sex, she and her family were involved in a child porn ring. After Trey offered to help the police put the Veron family away, Patricia vowed revenge. Luckily, the police offer Trey unofficial protection after Patricia ransacks his home; he’ll be hidden in the Cascade Mountains under the protection of  the Sheriff’s office.

Sheriff’s deputy Tenino isn’t averse to protecting Trey, especially when his gaydar is insisting that he is not heterosexual, despite the ex-girlfriend. Tenino has longed for a true mate, someone who could join him in riding the winds as a Thunderbird. It seems as if Trey could be the one, but when his cousins took mates who were not of the People, their lives had to be in grave danger before the mystical cup appeared to unite them. Tenino would rather he and Trey never fully become mates if it means his life must be imperiled.

A cabin hidden away in the mountains seems like a great place to hide, but you should never underestimate a woman with revenge on her mind.

Self-loathing, pretense and denial, those used to be the bywords Trey lived by. It’s not until he finds out the truth about Patricia that he decides the time has come to be who he really is. Finding Tenino seems like the answer to a prayer, but Trey isn’t confident in his own appeal and wonders if he’s man enough for Tenino, after all, he’s never been with a man. Tenino isn’t confused by his instant attraction to Trey, he’s good looking and Tenino has always had a thing for long-haired men. What he is confused by is the intense possessiveness he feels towards Trey, and the absolute certainty that they should be together forever. Trey has obviously had relationships with women in the past, and Tenino knows he could never share him with a woman, could he be all that Trey needs, or will he be left alone again after Patricia is captured? The intense, rough and yet tender passion that springs up between Trey and Tenino proves that they’re compatible in bed, but are these two very different men meant to be together forever?

The third in the Thunderbird Chosen series, TWO SPIRITS focuses primarily on Trey and Tenino as they form a connection that could bind them together forever. Though some characters from previous books in the series make brief appearances, they don’t contribute greatly to the story and you need not have read the books they featured in to understand this one. That being said, the other two stories in the series are as filled with passion, danger, and mysticism as this one, which leads me to recommend you read them anyway.
