Lord Raine Satyr
is in Venice to hear a lecture in hopes of finding a cure for the
disease that's attacking the vineyards when he stumbles into the
theater and into a lecture on something else entirely. On stage
amidst a group of men, one of them a doctor, sits a naked woman who
has both male and female genitalia. Raine is fascinated by the
masked woman but he doesn't have time for dilly-dallying right now.
A few hours later, though, Raine runs into the lady once more and
his need for sex is upon him, so he makes an offer that she doesn't
refuse. Jordan, as she calls herself, isn't aware that Raine knows
what lies betwixt her legs and tries to hide that part from him. No
matter, he just needs to find out if what he suspects is true. Is
Jordan one of King Feydon's daughters?
Jordan Cietta,
aka La Maschera, hates her birthday. Every year, Salermo, the doctor comes
to get her and then has nude drawings done of her to catalog the
changes in her body. Why? Because Jordan is an abomination, or
that's what people would call her if they ever found out her
identity. Through no fault of her own Jordan was born with both male
and female parts, and because the Cietta heir needed to be a male,
Salermo lied and proclaimed Jordan a male. For nineteen years she's
lived as a male, but she wants a man to touch her, kiss her, caress
her body as any normal woman would. During Salermo's yearly lecture,
Jordan spies a tall man standing in the shadows of the theater who
sets her body on fire. Too bad he leaves before she has a chance to
really check him out. Later on, Jordan escapes from Salermo and his
bunch of curious blue stockings only to run smack dab into Mr. Tall,
Dark, and Gorgeous. He offers her money for a night of lust-filled
passion. Should she agree or turn tail and run? She stays and the
next morning upon her return home Jordan discovers the police there
and her mother dead. Who killed her and why?
In the second of
her Lords of Satyr
series, Elizabeth Amber introduces readers to a more in-depth view
of Raine, the middle brother. Married once before which was a total
disaster due to his sexual needs and desires, (see NICHOLAS for more
explanation) Raine isn't thrilled about having to marry again. But
he will if it means protecting all that he and his brothers hold
dear and protects King Feydon's daughters. Raine is fascinated with
Jordan and decides to keep her little secret...from her. He
persuades her to return with him to his Tuscany home, in the hopes
of continuing the bonding between them in order to keep her safe
from those in Otherworld who seek to harm her. Jordan enjoys the
time she spends with Raine, in bed and out. He's a lover like no
other and stretches her boundaries showing her more dark pleasures
each time they are together. When she learns his secret, instead of
turning her off, it captivates her making her want him all the more.
How could she not when he wants her even knowing what is beneath the
lovely skirts she wears. The sex between them is hot, often, and at
times naughty. However, there is still the mystery of who killed
Jordan's mother and why. Secondary characters include Raine's
brothers, Nick and Lyon; Nick's wife Jane, Salermo, and a bishop
who...well I'll just let you read that for yourself.
Totally
spellbinding, Elizabeth Amber's RAINE is one paranormal romance that
you don't want to miss.
