Manitou Springs - Present Day

As the owner of The Essence of Life, Rayne Jankowski enjoys feeding people good food that helps not only their minds, but their spirits as well.  A powerless witch from a magical family, Rayne accepted long ago that she would never be like her brothers and sisters, and is content to lead a normal, magic-free life. She's also aware that, due to her chubbiness, she can't really hope for much in the dating department. All that changes though when the gorgeous Scott Marsten asks her out on a date. He's been coming into the store every day for a while now, and Rayne was beginning to wonder if her subtle flirtation had flown right over his head. Yet when it turns out that Rayne has some power of her own, and has been putting it into food, will she be able to trust that Scott likes her for her, rather than whatever she did to his muffins?

The best part of Scott's day is walking into the delicious Rayne's store and partaking of her yummy treats. Her food isn't the only thing he'd like to taste, and Scott has finally mustered up the nerve to ask her out. To his delight, she agrees, and Scott soon finds himself in a great relationship with the perfect girl. But when Scott finds out just what Rayne's special ingredient is, can he believe in his heart that he really is in love with her?

Rayne proves that girls certainly are made of SUGAR & SPICE in Liz Andrews' latest. Scott has a craving for Rayne that has nothing to do with food, but both of them have to believe that they are meant to be, and not something concocted up involuntarily by Rayne. She has always thought that she was normal, yet has instead put her will into her cooking, and no one can resist. That's not to say Rayne takes control over you. Rather, she just gives people the extra push they've been searching for, whether it has to do with ending a lousy relationship, or asking someone out on a date. Scott is the total package: sweet, charming, and sensual, and enjoys taking Rayne to heights she's never known.

Secondary characters, such as Rayne's brother Forrester, and coworker Josie set off their own sparks, making SUGAR & SPICE the right treat for anyone.
