Present Day

With vampire blood coursing through her, and the instincts of a werewolf, Riley Jenson has made a name for herself as one of the best Guardians in the Protectorate. And those skills will definitely come in handy when Riley has to track not one, but two serial killers. One of them is a vampire who feeds off of emotions, and he is leaving a string of bodies in his gruesome wake. Riley's up for the challenge, but when the killer strikes too close to home, will Riley be able to keep things from getting personal? And just when Riley thinks she's finally gotten control over her emotions, another vamp enters her life. But Quinn is no stranger...he's the only man that Riley can't say no to. Will she be able to resist his allure? Or will Quinn's presence mean danger not only for him, but Riley as well?

Riley Jenson returns in Keri Arthur's action-packed novel, THE DARKEST KISS. More suspenseful than the previous titles, this story focuses on Riley's hunt for the two killers rather than her love life, which was a pleasant change. True, Kellan and Quinn are two men that I wouldn't mind in my bland life, but I was growing tired of Riley's inability to make a decision between them. Riley has definitely matured as a character, and THE DARKEST KISS shows how. That's not to say she still isn't the sarcastic, snarky woman that she was before, but I feel because of what she's seen in her time as a guardian, she's also more somber. Her new shifting power causes a few problems as well, which provides humor in an otherwise dark tale. Old familiar faces return, including Riley's twin brother, Rhoan, and that sexy horse-shifter Kade, who I have high hopes for.

THE DARKEST KISS delivers on many levels, and fans of Keri Arthur are sure to devour the latest Riley Jenson novel just as I did.
