Erotic Paranormal Romance

Red Hots!

Present Day

He's called the Night Watcher; a hooded figure who goes around the city protecting the innocent. Finley Gallagher thinks he's probably some weird pervert who gets his kicks interfering with police business. But one hot, sultry night, she's singing a different tune when she's saved from two would-be rapists by the Night Watcher. Still, Finley has her doubts about her savior, even though all her friends have jumped on the vigilante bandwagon...including her sexy neighbor Trace Fairbanks. That man does things to her body Finley can't even comprehend, but he's also quite the player. Maybe the blazing summer is getting to her, because all she can think about is creating some of her own heat with Trace.

Trace Fairbanks shouldn't be alive. After his car plunged into a river, Trace was brought back to life. Yet something else awoke in him, and ever since the fateful night, Trace has been racked with violent visions of the future. When he tried to go to the cops to warn them that people were in danger, he got laughed at, and, with the urging of his friends, took matters into his own hands, and the Night Watcher was born. When Finley's in danger, Trace will stop at nothing to make sure she's safe, and the more she allows him to get closer to her, the more he wants to reveal his true identity. But Finley is starting to have some serious feelings for the Night Watcher as well. Can Trace keep his identity secret from her while he courts her as not one, but two men?

A man living with dual identities, and the woman torn between them. That's the premise of Sydney Somers' WAITIN' ON A HERO, and boy does it work. Trace is as complex as a character can get, suffering with explosive visions that leave him ill, and the guilt he feels if he can't save someone. He has had the hots for Finley ever since they met, but fears getting too close because she may find out his secret. Finley, who has recently suffered a loss, is emotionally vulnerable, so her lack of trust not only in Trace, but his alter ego, is understandable. I also enjoyed how, even after the Night Watcher saves Finley, she is still skeptical about him, which was a refreshing change. This book will make you feel damned hot, and I'm not talking about the scorching weather the author uses as a backdrop for the rise in crimes. A plethora of characters are also around to nudge the unwilling couple closer and closer together.

WAITIN' ON A HERO is the first book I've read by Sydney Somers, but it certainly won't be my last. Fans of the author, and newcomers, are sure to enjoy this as much as I did.
