Erotic Paranormal Romance -- Short story

United States - mid twenty-first century

Since the plagues of 2010, most full humans have been eradicated, but that doesn’t mean the talk of racial purity has been extinguished. Prejudice still exists, even among the paranormal creatures who have since emerged.

Roni Engelmann, were-dog and proud of it, is getting tired of the dating scene. Her roommate Ana has found a man to love, so why can’t she? Maybe Ana’s suggestion of using the internet to find love is a good one, and hey, Ana did already post an ad for her, what can be the harm in looking?

Corbin Thorne can’t believe he’s been reduced to looking for love online. After all, he is the heir to one of the most powerful were-wolf packs in three states. Unfortunately it’s that very status that makes finding his perfect Alpha Bitch so hard. All the pure wolf bitches want him for the power and money, not for himself. Pretending to be human may not be the most honest way to find love, but if it works, it’ll be worth it.

Welcome to love in the future, where your soul mate just may be a were, vampire or Nephylum. The possibilities are endless, and so are the parents’ complaints when you bring home a mate who woofs or drinks blood.

MUST LOVE DOGS puts a new spin on the paranormal scene with its world primarily populated by paranormals who don’t need to hide their existence from anyone. Roni is a were-dog who knows what she wants, love. Corbin is her perfect match and he wants the same thing. Their parents on the other hand, want them to mate within their species. No mutt bitches, Corbin’s dad, makes clear. Humans not allowed is Roni’s parents opinion. The heat between Roni and Corbin is undeniable, but with both sets of parents so against their relationship (and the small matter of Corbin’s secret were status) will this couple follow their hearts and claim the love that’s their destiny?

Secondary characters include: Alpha Duke (Corbin’s dad); Eduardo and Katriena, (Roni’s parents, who by the way are Chihuahua and Siberian Husky respectively); Ana, a vampire with drama queen tendencies (Roni’s roommate, best friend and meddler extraordinaire) and her boyfriend Jon (he’s a Nephylum, half-angel half-human). Each of these characters contribute to the story in their own special way and I’m certain that in the end they’ll approve of Roni and Corbin finding love.

So if a were-wolf and a were-dog get together, are their offspring called kids, or would they be called pups, or maybe cubs? Hmm… do you suppose weres are born singly or in litters? What if one of the parents is a human, or a Nephylum? So many questions about this intriguing new world, thank goodness this is just the first in the Night Critters series, maybe there’ll be answers in future stories. For now though, don’t miss out on Roni and Corbin’s story, MUST LOVE DOGS, available only at Changeling Press.
