Starbound Habitat - Future
When
the androids, which were designed to assist a human crew aboard the
Starbound care for the inhabitants who were headed for a planet
suitable for colonization, rebelled and killed their masters,
energy beings called the Napau, Star Gods, found the habitat and
turned the androids off…thus saving the entire habitat. At least
that was the information passed on to the next generations. Free
love was encouraged, love one, love all, and one-on-one
relationships were not permitted. So all should have been idyllic,
should it not?
But, as
the years passed, there were some who wished a return to one man –
one woman marriage. Jerod and Erlinn plan to be married. The date
is only a week away when the whole populace is called to the Temple
of Eros where the gossamer-winged Napau make their home, and Jerod
is called into service as a priest. He barely has time to ask that
his crèche mate, Kev, look after Erlinn. However, Gem, Kev’s lover,
wants Kev in the same way that Erlinn wants Jerod. When Erlinn is
also called into the Temple, Kev and Gem must find a way to free
them and find out the truth of the habitat.
STARBOUND is a first–rate sci-fi adventure. Kassie Burns has taken
a familiar idea and turned it into something new and refreshing. If
I tell more, several surprises will be spoiled. Star Gods Nicion
and Liayun control the temple. But, is it a benign control? Are
they friend or foe? Harlie is the human manifestation of the
shipboard computer. He appears as a kindly uncle or teacher, is a
confidant of many and has all the answers. One just has to ask the
proper questions. I had to sit back and fan myself and the monitor
at times. Wow. Hot, Hot, HOT! I also turned pages quickly,
anxious to see if the risks Jerod, Erlinn, Kev, and Gem took help
them or harm them. The descriptions are clear and one can almost
feel the hum of the ship as it floats through space. I highly
recommend STARBOUND.
