Settler’s Mine and Etrusca - The future

The most valuable possession of any person of Quatarian descent is their heartstone. Created long before they’re even born, the heartstone reveals your destined mate or mates. Without it, men can’t have sex and women can’t enjoy it. Most find their heartstone in one of the mines, and usually at least one of their two mates. Some extremely lucky people find both of their mates. And then there are those sad souls who never find their mate, or, even more rarely, those unlucky people who never find their heartstone and so are doomed to a life of celibacy. Alas, the heartstone doesn’t usually pick the person you think is right, and some people find that difficult to accept. Amory is one such person. He’s determined to find his heartstone and return to Etrusca, where he’ll honor his vow to mate Tania, the woman he believes is meant for him. But if Tania is his mate, why do Zelda and Bren, a mated couple and the owners of Settler’s Mine, intrigue him so?

Zelda and Bren know they’re blessed to have found each other. Wishing to find their third mate as well seems like asking for the moon. But when Amory, the young man who’s been stirring feelings in both of them finds his heartstone and it reveals that he is their third, they’re thrilled. Now they just have to convince him to give into the inevitable.

Amory is of Etruscan descent and believes heartily in the sacred Etruscan vows. He vowed to return home to Tania and claim her, so acknowledging that he can’t be her mate, since in fact, Bren and Zelda are his mates, sticks in his craw. I know, you’d think he’d be happy he’s found one mate, let alone both of them, but Amory is young and romantic. He doesn’t understand that mating is about more than sex and that there’s no fighting fate. Bren was found by Zelda as a young man, even before he was of mating age, so for him, mating was never a hope that may have gone unfulfilled. Though Zelda is strong willed and quite frankly, has a well deserved reputation as a bitch, she has a tender heart underneath and meets all of Bren’s needs. Well, at least all the needs he knew he had. Bren has never been attracted to a man before, but there’s no doubt at all that he wants Amory any way he can get him. Zelda is a bit of a control freak, however, she has her reasons, when readers discover what her past was like, they’ll certainly understand. Not afraid to take on any challenge, if she has to chain Amory up to make him see reason, well, that’s certainly something she’s capable of. Sacred vows, chains, fated love, and three very determined characters make THE LOVERS a very interesting read. Of course, the hot sex and a secret enemy who wants to destroy Settler’s Mine also add their bit to the story. ;-)

Readers may remember Clyde, the Wolfton bartender on Settler’s Mine from the first story in the series, THE RIVALS, when Layla, Orion and Balt found each other. All of those characters make appearances in this story, as does the mysterious doctor, McTavish. New to Settler’s Mine readers are: Gemini, a man with aspirations and guile, as well as his troublemaking minions, Swill, and Tenack. All three are sure to liven up Settler’s Mine. Amory’s mother died a year ago, but his fathers, Horatio and Jardon, are both still alive and eager to see him happily settled with his mates.

If you haven’t read the first book in the Settler’s Mine series, THE RIVALS (July 2007) you can still read this book and enjoy it, but frankly, why would you want to miss the beginning of this fascinating series? Stop by and pick up your copy of THE LOVERS at Loose Id today. It’s a purchase you won’t regret.
