On their wedding night three long years ago, Alaya reacted badly when he started to shift, so believing it was for the best, he left. Alaya has loved Savage for as long as she can remember. Though their wedding night was a disaster, and he hasn’t been back since, she still holds out hope that Savage will one day return. When the agrarian settlement where Alaya lives is invaded by pirates, she knows her only hope is Savage. Will he return in time to save her, or will the pirates claim her for their own?

Though SAVAGE is set in 2408, readers get glimpses of Alaya and Savage’s shared past that allow for a better understanding of where each of these characters are coming from. Savage despises his Rabian heritage. Rabians are known for being aggressive and sometimes vicious. His own mother was treated brutally by his father and Savage doesn’t want Alaya to ever feel scared of him. If he can’t convince her that he loves her and would never hurt her, he’s determined to do what’s right and let her go. Alaya doesn’t fear Savage’s shifter side, in fact, she believes that without his feral side he would never have accepted her when they were younger. Her childhood wasn’t a peaceful one and she was betrayed by someone who should have protected her. Despite this sad history, Alaya is ready to embrace a future with Savage. But can she convince him that fear isn’t what she feels when she thinks about him?

A.L. 110, Savage’s partner and friend, has recently been upgraded in a major way. He’s now the next thing to human and is experiencing life in a whole new way. Much more independent and feeling things most androids don’t, Al is an interesting secondary character and a loyal friend. Joseph is a young man who would like Alaya for his own. Simon is another member of Alaya’s community. Strong, brave and determined, he wants to help Savage rout the pirates.
