Romance- Short Story
Tehama County,
California - 1866 and the Present
One minute, Bear
is fighting a war with his tribe. In the next, he lands on Holly's
doorstep. Holly is scared senseless when the sexy Native American
warrior appears at her home in the middle of the night.
Soon, her fear
turns to appreciation for the strong and beautiful warrior. Her
reaction to Bear is quite surprising, considering her history and
current problems with her abusive ex-husband. Holly notices that
Bear's speech, dress and mannerisms are peculiar, but her attraction
to him overrides any concerns that arise.
Bear's friends
arrive and explain to Holly that Bear is truly from the past and
must be protected. Of course, Holly thinks they are all a little
cuckoo, but is willing to overlook this shortcoming when they offer
her the answer to her prayers.
The idea of
sleeping with a white woman usually isn't appealing to Bear. But
Holly quickly changes his mind. When she doesn't immediately accept
his advances as he anticipates, Bear realizes that there is more to
Holly than meets the eye. Like any strong warrior would, he decides
that in the end, she will be his.
Bear is a true
alpha in every sense of the word and is willing to pull every trick
in the book to get Holly in his bed. Holly is afraid of
relationships and intimidated by Bear's sensuality. Once you read
about her past, you will understand why.
WARRIOR OF THE
PAST continues in the same vein as THE LAST WARRIOR (March 2007).
Bear is transported to the future and into the arms of the woman of
his destiny. Readers of THE LAST WARRIOR will appreciate that Lone
Wolf and Tara make appearances here and are instrumental in the
development of the story. Sex is definitely second to the plot in
this one and the sex scenes are noticeably scarce. Some may find
that Bear and Holly's relationship develops a little too quickly to
be believable if they are not firm believers in love at first
sight. I recommend you read THE LAST WARRIOR before reading WARRIOR
OF THE PAST as there will be many references to the previous story.
WARRIOR OF THE
PAST isn’t as juicy as THE LAST WARRIOR, but it has its moments
(especially when Holly gives in to Bear...). This is a story I
recommend to anyone looking for a light read to pass the afternoon.
