New York - Present day

Megan’s family was responsible for a terrible act many years ago. Ever since, they have served the Altor Custodis, a group of neutral people who have watched over both humanity and supernaturals for centuries, in an effort to work off the debt of honor they now owe. Megan’s latest assignment, and the one that will finally clear her family’s debt, is to find out more about a vampire named Dante. Getting his interest should be easy, after all, Megan is half-were and as such, her blood is particularly delicious to vampires. Megan has spied before, it’s not a particularly difficult task, but what could be hard is controlling herself around the vampire who’s quickly proving to be nearly irresistible.

While Dante thinks Megan is gorgeous, and she shows how brave she is within moments of meeting him, there’s just something a bit off about her. Of course, that doesn’t mean he’s going to avoid the little wolf. In fact, it seems keeping her close while trying to learn her secrets is the wisest thing all around, especially given his tangled history with weres in general (Weres were responsible for a dear friends death in the past and it’s only recently that he’s discovered they can be allies as well as enemies).

Megan and Dante share something that could be truly incredible, but to fulfill their destiny, they’ll have to defeat those who want to let an ancient evil loose on the world once more.

Some things are destroyed by fire, others are strengthened, and if Megan and Dante can survive the coming INFERNO, it seems likely this pair will share a love like none have ever seen. Megan is smart, strong and determined to do everything she can to help others and give her family the peace of knowing their debt has been paid (though she’s the only surviving member, she’s certain they’ll know when she accomplishes that task). Dante is honorable, protective and passionate. Despite the many tragedies that have occurred throughout his long life, he remains firmly on the side of light, spurning the darkness and all those who serve it. This well-matched pair makes a formidable team and seem well suited to fighting the coming war.

Nobody can fight a war on their own, and that means Megan and Dante will need friends and allies as determined and heroic as they are. Thankfully I can say they have them in spades. Most important is Duncan. The half-fey knight has long fought for the Lady (Goddess) and though he and Dante have only recently renewed their friendship, the bond they share is intense and meaningful. Sir Heathclif Dean, father of the vampire Mistress of the New York region is an incredibly handsome and formidable man, one you want on your side. Hugh is Heath’s subordinate, a dour vamp with a delicious Australian accent. Kevin McElroy is Alpha of the East Side wolf pack. Big and fierce, he’s not one to back away from any challenge. There are many others who fight on the side of the light, but maybe I should mention those who don’t. Igor Poferov has old world charm, but this is one man you don’t want to meet in a dark alley (or for that matter, in the open). And then of course there are the Vabians. Viktor, his wife Una, and their daughter Siobhan. Viktor is a nasty piece of work, but he’s overshadowed by Una (the real boss of their family) and Siobhan (an impulsive, spiteful girl quickly growing into her mother’s shoes). Although he’s not in this tale, you can meet Patrick Vabian (Siobhan’s brother) in LORDS OF THE WERE (November 2006) the first book of the Tales of the Were series (Dante and Duncan also feature in that tale, I highly recommend you read it before starting INFERNO).

A story filled with plenty of action, well-developed characters and a storyline that keeps you hooked, this is one hot tale that’s guaranteed to keep you up long into the night. Oh yeah, it also brings a whole new meaning to that old Marvin Gaye classic “Sexual Healing”. :-) If you like weres, vampires and fey (and hey, who doesn’t?) you’re sure to appreciate Bianca D’Arc’s latest delicious offering, INFERNO.
