Present Day
Six years ago,
C.I.A. Agent Bailey Serborne went undercover with Trent Daylen, a
member of the Australian Secret Intelligence. After successfully
completing their job, they celebrated with a night of unforgettable
passion. But a different kind of explosion rocked Bailey's world the
next day, and Trent was gone forever. With nothing left to live for,
and having left the C.I.A., Bailey is now seeking revenge against
Warbucks, a domestic terrorist she holds responsible for the death
of her parents. However, her efforts get her captured, and she is
released by an unlikely ally: John Vincent, who's as shady as they
come. But something about his touch is familiar, and creates a
myriad of sensations Bailey hasn't felt since Trent died. And Trent
is gone...right?
With his cover
about to be blown, Trent Daylen became John Vincent, and is now a
member of an Elite Ops group comprised of men who have all "died"
only to be "reborn." John had to give up all ties to his former
life, including Bailey, whom to this day still manages to stir a
fire inside. She's in way over her head in her hunt for Warbucks,
and John and the others have no choice but to enlist her help in
their mission. But how will Bailey react when she realizes the truth
of who John is? And can he keep his focus on the mission when the
temptation to pick up where he and Bailey left off is too much to
resist?
Let me first say
how much I have always enjoyed Lora Leigh's tales of sensual love
and thrilling action, which is why HEAT SEEKER is such a
disappointment. The author's latest feels as if she is simply going
through the motions. The love scenes are overly long and redundant,
and there are so many inconsistencies, it was extremely difficult to
finish the book. Besides editing and grammatical errors, the climax
features a scene where a hostage's name changes numerous times, and
I found myself having to go back through to make sure I didn't miss
anything. Bailey and John are basically the same characters, just
different books, and I disliked how easily Bailey gave into John,
whom at first she suspects of being an arms dealer to terrorists.
If this is your
first foray into the world of Lora Leigh, HEAT SEEKER will not give
you a taste of how great this author can be. And for those of us who
have always been entertained by Ms. Leigh, her latest is certainly a
let down.
