Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - Present Day

That Katie Snow’s promotion has taken her out of the field was bad enough, but now she has to attend a conference in Rio with her boss, Jack Benedict.  Not much of a beach person, the exotic locale isn’t much of a draw, and having to spend that much time with her sexy boss, without being able to do anything about it will be torture.  When Katie runs into two women she’s met at other conferences, she figures she’ll at least have other people than Jack to talk to, yet surprisingly, this leads to more time with Jack.  The two women are involved with each other, and Katie soon finds out that it is a D/s relationship, which leads to Katie’s admission of her own inclinations, and Jack overhears.  She’s answered to Jack in the office for two years, but suddenly being his to command takes on a whole new meaning.

A business trip opens up new possibilities for Kate and Jack WHEN IN RIO.  What starts out as a little bedroom game quickly turns into something more serious, giving both Kate and Jack a chance to realize that their relationship has been growing deeper for some time.  Told from Katie’s viewpoint, readers get a chance to see what she goes through as she tries to adjust to having a relationship with her boss and the new knowledge that her feelings for him have always been more than she’d admit, but we don’t get to know what Jack is thinking.

Secondary characters include the two women that Kate knew before, who help to bring Kate and Jack together initially, but pretty much disappear after that.  Kate’s thesis advisor is another conference attendee, and he and his wife have a part to play in the relationship also, as does Jack’s former college roommate, who lives in Brazil.

A sexy twist to the friends-turned-lovers plot, WHEN IN RIO is a tantalizing treat.
