Present Day
Private
investigator Jaci Dillard has been hired to retrieve a family
heirloom necklace that Simon Jaymes stole from his cousin. After
getting a good look at the geeky yet sexy Simon, she’s thinking it’s
too bad that the man is a thief and that she’ll have to steal...er,
recover ... a piece from him. Once she enters the room she believes
the necklace to be in however, Jaci realizes she has set off an
alarm, and quickly shifts into her cat form in order to sneak out of
the house. For Jaci, it’s a very close call, as Simon arrives with
Josh Sage, the hunky police detective that she recently came very
close to sleeping with, only moments after she completes the shift.
Unfortunately
for Jaci, her getaway wasn’t as clean as she’d have liked, and Simon
and Josh confront her with a videotape. Now, not only do they know
that she tried to rob Simon, but they also caught her shape-shifting
on tape. Even worse, she and her employers learn that the necklace
is rightfully Simon’s, and the “cousin” who hired them is actually a
con-man, who was found murdered with Jaci’s business card on him.
The only thing that seems to be going right for her is that Josh
still wants her – and now Simon does too.
A different
kind of cat burglar, Jaci gets more than she bargained for in CAT
AND MOUSE. She and Josh have known each other for a while and have
had the chance to get to know another even better. Once she meets
Simon, she’s just as interested in him as she is in Josh. The two
men, longtime friends, make it very clear that they are looking for
a threesome with Jaci, and she’s more than willing to see where
things lead. The plot involving the necklace and subsequent murder
stay pretty much in the background throughout the story, and the
budding relationship between Jaci, Simon and Josh takes center
stage. A sexy short story, check out CAT AND MOUSE.
