Interview with Marie Rochelle, author of ALL THE FIXIN'

RRT:
Hi Marie! Thank you for interviewing with RRT. Can you tell us a little about yourself?

MR:   Well…I write interracial romances between black women and white men. I’ve been doing that for a little while now. Recently I just wrote an interracial romance between a black woman and Native American man. I enjoyed it so much that I’m thinking about doing another one.

RRT:   When did you know you wanted to be a writer? How long did it take for you to make your first sale?

MR:   I think a part of me had always wanted to be a writer, but I didn’t get started until I sold my first book TAKEN BY STORM. It took me close to a year to get it sold.

RRT:   Tell us about your latest release, ALL THE FIXIN'.

MR:   Oh…Shea and Craig. I really love them as a couple.  Here’s just a blurb about them.

Ever since Shea Anderson laid eyes on hazel-eyed hunk Craig Clark Evans, she longed to feel his lips pressed against hers. But that would never happen, because Craig hated her from the moment he met her at his aunt's house. His dislike for her only grew after his aunt left her as the sole owner of her company, Luscious Lips.

Craig Clark Evans is determined to uncover how Shea tricked his dying aunt into signing over all the stocks of the family business to her and not him, but every time he looks into her dark eyes, his desire for her grows, and other more pleasurable thoughts enter his mind.

However, it doesn't matter how much he might want the ebony goddess in his bed, he plans to do whatever it takes to get his family business back. Will Craig come to his senses before it's too late and Shea's love for him is gone forever?

RRT:   Do you have a writing routine? What is your average writing day like?

MR:   Yes…I do have a writing routine. I usually try to work on maybe three books at a time, so when I might get writer’s block with one I can move on to another one.

My average writing day goes pretty smoothly unless I run into a plot problem or my characters want to go one way and I want to go in the opposite direction.

RRT:   Of all your heroes and heroines, which are your favorites? Which stand out the most?

MR:   Oh, God…this is a hard question. I loved all of them so much. But if I had to pick, and I really don’t but I will, it has to be Storm Hyde from TAKEN BY STORM. He’s the most alpha male I’ve written about so far. I’ve alpha males in my books, but he has been the KING alpha male by far. Plus, Syleena loved him so much that she stuck with him through all of his crap.

That’s why I’m so happy TAKEN BY STORM will be released in June '08, through Midnight Showcase, in both e-book and print format.

RRT:   Is there any plot/setting/character that you’re dying to write but haven’t yet?

MR:   I really want to do a vampire series, but I haven’t gotten enough down on paper to even start a first chapter yet.

RRT:   Who are some of the authors who inspired you when you were still working towards becoming published? Who are some of your favorite authors to read?

MR:   Oh…I love Christine Feehan, Marilyn Lee, Aliyah Burke, Lisa G. Riley, and so many others.

RRT:   When not busy writing, what do you like to do in your spare time? (If there is such a thing *G*)

MR:   I love to read a hot juicy book when I get the chance, but lately I’ve been too busy to do that.

RRT:   What are the latest additions to your TBR? What are you most eager to read?

MR:   There are a couple of interracial books on Amazon that I’ve my eye on, but I haven’t gotten them yet. I am hoping to be able to purchase them soon.

RRT:   Any advice to aspiring authors? What craft books helped you that you would recommend to them?

MR:   I want to tell aspiring authors not to give up when you get those rejections. I know that it may seem like no one loves your work but you. However, it will get better, and those rejections won’t matter when you get that yes you’ve been waiting for.  Amazon has a wonderful listing of writing books to choose from. I have several of them in my book collection.

RRT:   What can your fans look forward to from you in the near future? What are you working on now?

MR:   I’m working on the third book in my Men of CCD series called Tempting Turner. Plus I’m working on the third book in my Drace Brothers series called Closer to you. The first book in the Drace Brothers series, called My Deepest Love: Zack, will be released in April through Phaze (www.phaze.com), and I can’t wait. If anyone wants to check out more of my upcoming books they can visit my blog at http://www.shopdiva28.blogspot.com

I know my fans will fall in love with these sexy alpha brothers.

RRT:   How can readers contact you?
